and the winner is... A Double Wammy!!!
Over 80 Hornsby Chamber of Commerce Members and their guests fell silent in Bookas Bistro, Hornsby Inn as NSW Member for Hornsby, Mrs Judy Hopwood MP (pictured top left) announced the winner of the 2006 Member of the Year; The Mortgage Gallery Hornsby.
The award was accepted by Simon Slevin (pictured top right) and his wife Lynne (pictured top centre). Simon was lost for words, a very rare occurrence, as he thanked Hornsby Chamber and the prize sponsor Australia Post.
The Member of the Year is a shining example of a member by

upholding a code of business ethics and practices, attending
Hornsby Chamber events, participating in activities, contributing via sponsorship and the implementation of ideas to benefit the
Chamber or the Hornsby Shire Business Community.
2005 Belated but not forgotten
The first Award of the evening was announced and presented by Hornsby Shire Council Deputy Mayor, Felicity Findlay (pictured above bottom left): 2005 Member of the Year.
Due to an incredibly busy 2005 for Hornsby Chamber, the Member of the Year Business Awards were not held last year. BUT this didn’t mean that there wasn’t a Hornsby Chamber Member that earned the 2005 Member of the Year title.
Hornsby Audio Visual officially received their Member of the Year Award for 2005, accepted by David Baker (pictured above bottom right) on this night. The award was in recognition to their enormous contribution to the production of Hornsby Chamber’s Hornsby Open for Business DVD
The Mortgage Gallery Hornsby 2006 Associate Member of the Year A huge roar emanated from the back of the room as The Lions Club of Hornsby was announced the winner. Lion President, John Purcell was so excited he forgo the stairs and leapt up on to the stage to accept this award. Hornsby Lions received this award for their outstanding Anorexia nervosa program.

Business Awards These “in house” business awards recognise excellence in Member Hornsby Shire business.
ANZ Business Banking Hornsby Member Business of the Year was won by RE/MAX First Choice Hornsby. The Award accepted by owner Barry Palmer for excellence in all business components which included; business initiative for business growth, customer service, employee training, marketing strategies and community support. [ Runner Up: The Bush Telegraph ].
RE/MAX First Choice Hornsby Member Business Growth Initiative was won by Ronald Smith & Co Accepted by the owner Ron Smith for their unique marketing initiative involving a mail out containing a tangram puzzle and accompanying brochure relating the puzzle to the complexities of accounting at tax time. The recipient was invited to solve the puzzle. If this was not possible… they needed the experts at Ronald Smith & Co! [ Runner Up: Broady Automotive Repairs ].
ANZ Mortgage Solutions Hornsby Member Customer/Client Service was won by Thyme Square Cafe
Owner Brian Endycott was delighted when he accepted this award in recognition of Thyme Square’s “family” approach of service to their café customers. [ Runner Up: Wizard Hornsby ]
Studio ARTES Northside Member New Business was won by AMX Health (Hornsby)
Accepted by owner Roger Pearce. This New Business award was open to members who have only been trading or under new management for twenty four months or less as an acknowledgment of their efforts to date and encouragement to continue to grow. AMX Health (Hornsby) opened in 2004 with their boutique Gym to fill a niche market within Hornsby. [ Runner Up: Signwave Hornsby ]

Hornsby Chamber of Commerce Partnership Award
Presented by Hornsby Chamber Vice President, Arthur Godfrey (pictured left) this non annual special award is to recognise a business, association or government body for their support of Hornsby Chamber initiatives through a partnership. Rod Cook (pictured right) accepted the award on behalf of Wesley Uniting Employment for their continuing 5 year partnership via the federally funded (DEWR) Work for the Dole Program.
